Domestic Violence: The Biblical View
by: James E. Sheridan, 1997 LCMS
One of the most perverse crutches used by abusive men to "justify" physical violence against women in Scripture. In this video James Sheridan directly faces the "wives be subject" passages (Eph. 5:22-24) and other verses which appear to authorize men to dominate women. Sheridan paints a broader picture of the Biblical vision of how husbands and wives are to see each other. He also puts these and many other passages into proper historic, cultural, linguistic and Biblical context.
This video is a must for counselors or church professionals who deal w hi abusive men. It is also an excellent review of the subject for Bible study groups interested in the issue of domestic violence. you will never again have to sit quietly by when an abusive male tells you, "I don't care what you say...God tells me I can physically discipline my wife!"
